Une nouvelle loi entrée en vigueur en Arabie Saoudite oblige désormais les tribunaux à avertir par SMS les femmes dont le mari a obtenu le divorce. Une avancée dans ce pays où les époux pouvaient, jusqu’à présent, divorcer sans même prévenir leurs femmes.
« Les femmes […] seront notifiées de tout changement concernant leur statut matrimonial via un message SMS », a indiqué le ministère de la Justice dans un communiqué diffusé par la chaîne d’information Al-Ekhbariya et d’autres médias locaux. En Arabie Saoudite, jusqu’à présent, les hommes pouvaient divorcer de leurs femmes sans même les prévenir. Les Saoudiennes vivaient donc dans un véritable flou matrimonial, leurs époux pouvant divorcer en secret.
